Free Government-Funded Courses Offer Skills Boost for Riding Schools Across England

Posted on 8th May 2026

Riding schools across England are being encouraged to explore a wide range of fully funded Level 2 online qualifications that could support business growth, improve safeguarding standards, and strengthen staff skills across all areas of operation.

The training is available through Free Courses in England and is funded by the UK Government. Courses typically take 6 to 12 weeks to complete and offer fast-track enrolment, making them accessible for busy equestrian centres and yard staff.

Full course listings can be accessed here https://freecoursesinengland.co.uk/

Supporting modern riding schools

The range of qualifications includes subjects such as mental health, business administration, customer service, digital marketing, environmental awareness, and specialist care topics.

For riding schools, these courses could support improvements in staff training, safeguarding compliance, customer experience, and the development of inclusive riding programmes for children, adults, and riders with additional needs.

Areas such as Understanding Autism, Behaviour That Challenges, Mental Health First Aid, and Special Educational Needs are particularly relevant for centres working with young riders or therapeutic equestrian programmes.

Business-focused courses including Team Leading, Business Administration, Lean Organisation Management and Customer Service may also help riding schools improve day-to-day operations, staff management and overall efficiency

Eligibility requirements

The accredited Level 2 qualifications provide benefits for individuals from all backgrounds regardless of employment status, career level or interests.

To be eligible, learners must meet the following criteria:
