UKRS Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of Equine Yard Work
The UKRS certificate covers core theory content, but we know that for staff working on yards it is important that they have strong practical skills to match. For this reason staff completing this course through ABRS yards are also asked to complete an e-Logbook to receive the ABRS Principles of Equine Yard Work practical certificate. This is signed off by a responsible member of staff on your yard who holds relevant coaching or equestrian qualifications such as a yard manager or senior coach. Full guidance on the practical requirements are included in the course handbook for those registering staff on the course.
The ABRS+ in collaboration with Lingfield Equine Distance Learning are offering the UK Rural Skills accredited Level 2 certificate in the Principles of Equine Yard Work. They are one of the oldest providers of tutor supported Equine Distance Learning in the UK.
This course has been developed in line with council licensing specifications to cover:
- Animal Behaviour – integrating the 5 Freedoms and the 5 Domains
- Animal Welfare
- Animal Handling
- First Aid – Recognition and Treatment
- Feeding and Food Prep
- Worming, Hygiene and Biosecurity
- Professional Conduct
Suitable both as a piece of onboarding for new staff and those who have worked with you for many years who require certification for regulatory purposes, the UKRS Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of Equine Yard Work can be studied flexibly around the needs of your yard and horses and takes approximately 14 hours to complete in total. It is delivered via screen reader compatible PDF files directly to your employees email addresses, so they can learn from their phones or laptops even if the internet connection at your yard is poor. Each module contains reflection exercises to consolidate learning and a multiple choice quiz that unlocks the next module
