UKRS Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of Equine Yard Work
The ABRS+ in collaboration with Lingfield Equine Distance Learning are offering the UK Rural Skills accredited Level 2 certificate in the Principles of Equine Yard Work.
The UKRS certificate covers core theory content, but we know that for staff working on yards it is important that they have strong practical skills to match. For this reason staff completing this course through ABRS yards are also asked to complete an e-Logbook to receive the ABRS Principles of Equine Yard Work practical certificate. This is signed off by a responsible member of staff on your yard who holds relevant coaching or equestrian qualifications such as a yard manager or
senior coach. Full guidance on the practical requirements are included in the course handbook for those registering staff on the course.
Suitable both as a piece of onboarding for new staff and those who have worked with you for many years who require certification for regulatory purposes, the UKRS Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of Equine Yard Work can be studied flexibly around the needs of your yard and horses and takes approximately 14 hours to complete in total.

When planning to run the Practical Assessment Days, we recommend the following:
- Set a deadline for your learners to complete the UKRS Theory portion of the course prior to your practical assessment days on the yard.
- Set three dates in advance for your Practical Assessment Days to ensure all your learners can attend.
- Complete the sign offs and comments on the Practical Assessment Days via the ABRS Portal.
How to Register
Enroll your students online via Lingfield Equine Distance Learning’s online portal www.equk.org/courses.
This will create an account on the EQUK Learning Portal so that you can support your learners, and also give them access to the theory portion of their course right away. You can access the EQUK Learning portal here: www.app.equk.org.
This will also give you access to the ABRS Portal, where you will find the practical assessment tasks that your learners need to complete, and you need to review. You can access the ABRS Portal here: www.abrs.equk.org.
Enrolments are £70 per learner for ABRS Members. However, you may wish to charge your learners an additional fee for the Practical Assessment to cover the staff and horse time involved in running these days.
