In the spotlight: Warwick International School of Riding

Posted on 11th July 2020

In the spotlight this week is Warwick International School of Riding (WISR). We caught up with Janet who told us a bit more about this busy centre.

Tell us a bit about your centre…

We were established 47 years ago and are set in the heart of Warwickshire with over 60 acres of land which enables us to offer first class facilities and onsite hacking. The yard itself is full of history and has a welcoming atmosphere, boasting an original cobbled yard, Victorian style stables and many period features. We pride ourselves on our wide variety of safe well-trained horses and ponies to cater for all levels of abilities and provide professional, qualified & friendly instructors to welcome everyone of all ages!

What makes your centre unique?

I started with one horse offering pony rides over 47 years ago, now after a lot of hard work and sheer determination, WISR have grown into a busy equestrian centre providing tuition of the highest quality. As the business has grown time and money has been invested into making sure we are constantly evolving to continue to offer a great service.  As well as our riding facilities we also have on site dormitory accommodation and welcome riders from all over the world come to WISR for fun, educational horse riding holidays and camps during the Summer.

Some of our horses have also starred in television programmes over the years for ITV and BBC1 – “Keeping Up Appearances” being one of them!

Janet’s son Karl also runs his Film and Jousting, horse archery and stunt trick riding school – The Knights of Middle England, alongside the riding centre which means we can offer any customer a huge variety of exciting & unique equine related experiences all in one place!

What are your plans when restrictions are fully lifted in the UK?

We will be bringing back the fun group lessons, private lessons and usual training for regular customers. Offering our well known “credit crunch” rides, hacking, clinics, cross country events and Fun days.  We are going to fill those ‘fundays’ with children and families. Generally giving our horses and customers as much enjoyment in their riding as possible! With many people not travelling away this summer we will be offering all sorts of riding days and family group activities.

Thank you to Janet and the team at WISR for giving us an insight into life at their centre!
