Welcome to The Diamond Centre for Disabled Riders.

The Diamond Centre for Disabled Riders is a registered charity and a founder member of the Riding for the Disabled Association and provides unique facilities to benefit disabled children and adults by having regular contact with horses.

It is now widely recognised that riding helps disabled people both physically and mentally - and the remarkable improvements achieved by so many of those attending The Diamond Centre are proof of this.

Riders are aged between 5 and 65 years old and each week, with the assistance of the Diamond’s instructors and helpers, they can enjoy the experience of riding, driving or vaulting. An experience which provides the chance to be independent, a sense of achievement – and, just as important, gives pleasure and satisfaction.

Diamond’s riders have a range of disabilities including; spina bifida, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, downs syndrome, autism and learning disabilities. The Diamond Centre also helps many brain injury victims who often show remarkable improvements through riding. For many riders it is the only activity they can participate in and gain some form of independence.

It costs more than £300,000 each year to run the centre and Diamond receives no Government or local authority support so has to rely on fees, donations, legacies and fundraising events in order to survive.

Without our team of around 300 volunteers we could not operate - so new helpers are always welcome.
