Moat Farm Riding Centre is a small, family-run riding school located in the beautiful Suffolk countryside near Bury St Edmunds. Specialising in children’s riding lessons from the age of five upwards, the centre provides a friendly and supportive environment where young riders can develop confidence both in and out of the saddle. With a strong emphasis on horse care, welfare and rider development, Moat Farm encourages children to build lasting bonds with the ponies while enjoying an active outdoor lifestyle.
As an ABRS+ Approved Riding School applicant, Moat Farm Riding Centre offers high-quality tuition tailored to riders of all abilities, from complete beginners through to confident competition riders. Lessons are delivered in very small groups, with a maximum of three children per session, ensuring riders receive individual attention and a personalised learning experience. The centre is particularly recognised for helping nervous riders gain confidence and independence.
The centre benefits from excellent facilities including both indoor and outdoor arenas, as well as dedicated fields for riding and jumping. In addition to individual and group lessons, Moat Farm offers jumping instruction, Pony Club Efficiency Tests, pony mornings, day camps, in-house competitions and a popular loan-a-pony scheme. Non-ridden activities such as stable management afternoons and equine behaviour sessions further support children’s understanding of horse care and horsemanship.
Moat Farm Riding Centre is committed to maintaining high standards of coaching, safeguarding and horse welfare. The centre holds a 5-star local authority licence rating and is led by Christina De’Ath, a BHS Stage 3 Complete Coach. The ethos at Moat Farm is centred around creating confident, knowledgeable riders who learn to communicate effectively with their ponies through kindness, understanding and correct foundations.
