We are greatly saddened to hear of the death of Her Majesty the Queen. She has been a constant through most of our lives and it seem extraordinary that this will not continue. For those of us in equestrianism, Her Majesty’s death is a huge loss; she was a living advocate for our sport and a huge supporter of our native breeds. Her interest and endorsement was immensely important in ensuring that the horse and the riding of horses remained a ‘mainstream’ activity.
When Her Majesty was 21, she pledged: “I declare before you that my whole life, whether it be long or short, shall be devoted to your service, and the service of our great imperial family to which we all belong.” In her long life, through good and bad and through trials and tribulation, she kept this pledge.
We extend our condolences to the Royal Family in this time of national sorrow.
