Horse riders hacking handbook

Guidance for riding school and trekking centre clients as well as for horse owners is offered in the new ABRS manual 'The Horse Rider's Hacking Handbook'.

In addition there is plenty of information for ride escorts, who may benefit just as much from being reminded of some of the problems and queries which often face novice riders as from the specific notes included on conducting rides.

The authors are:
Karen Bush
, who has co-authored two previous ABRS manuals with ABRS Chairman Julian Marczak FABRS, and who has drawn on her experience over the last forty years both as a client and as a qualified riding instructor at riding schools, livery yards and trekking centres.

Stephen Jenkinson, who as an independent access consultant and Fellow of the Institute of Public Rights of Way and Access Management has in-depth knowledge of riders' rights and responsibilities, while work as an animal behaviour counsellor has given him insight into the bond between horse and rider. He keeps his own horse, a Clydesdale cross at home in Orkney.

The Horse Rider's Hacking Handbook By Karen Bush and Stephen Jenkinson is due for publication in August 2011, by Crowood Press. It will be in softback format and priced at £11.99
