Island Riding Centre opened in 2017 and is a fully insured and licensed equestrian centre based on the Isle of Wight. The centre is approved as an Association of British Riding Schools (ABRS+) Approved Riding School, ABRS+ Approved Livery Yard, and ABRS+ Approved Equine Assisted Services Provider, and is registered on the Human Equine Interaction Register.
The facilities include a 60m x 25m indoor sand school and a 60m x 40m outdoor sand school, supporting a wide range of riding, training and equine-assisted activities. Island Riding Centre is also a The Pony Club Centre, reflecting its commitment to high standards of coaching and horse care.
Accessibility is a core principle of the centre. Island Riding Centre holds the Riding for the Disabled Association Accessibility Mark and is home to the island’s only para hoist, alongside a fully equipped Changing Places toilet. The team is committed to ensuring that equestrian activities are accessible to as many people as possible, regardless of physical ability.
The centre is set within an award-winning holiday complex offering self-catering cottages and safari tents, with on-site café, restaurant and children’s playground. This integrated setting makes Island Riding Centre suitable for riders and non-riders alike, from local clients to visiting holidaymakers.
The Isle of Wight has a strong tradition of horse riding, with extensive bridleways, beaches and scenic trails. Island Riding Centre was developed by owners Paul and Louise to combine high-quality equestrian provision with inclusive access and outstanding holiday accommodation. The centre welcomes riders of all ages and abilities, from complete beginners to experienced riders, as well as those engaging in equine-assisted services.
The purpose-built 18-stable livery yard is fully equipped and was the first in the UK to receive ABRS-accredited livery status. Facilities include rainwater-fed automated drinkers, hot wash-down area, solarium, individual tack lockers, feed store and on-site WC.
