Holt’s Equestrian Centre

Holt’s Equestrian Centre is a family-run riding school based at Dry Gap Farm near Ramsbottom in Lancashire. Led by Gaynor and Marnie Holt, the centre brings together extensive practical experience, professional coaching and a strong commitment to high standards of horse care and rider education. As an Association of British Riding Schools (ABRS+) Approved Riding School, Holt’s Equestrian Centre is recognised for its structured, responsible and welfare-led approach.

The centre offers flatwork lessons on well-schooled horses, alongside opportunities to hack out into the surrounding Lancashire countryside. Lessons are available for both adults and children (from four years and over), with a focus on developing correct riding skills, confidence and understanding. Coaching is delivered with care and consistency, ensuring that riders progress at a pace appropriate to their experience and ability.

A defining feature of Holt’s Equestrian Centre is its ethos of “doing things the right way”. Attention to detail in the daily management and care of the horses underpins everything the centre does. Horse welfare is central to decision-making, and riders are encouraged to develop empathy, responsibility and respect for the horses they work with, alongside technical riding skills.

In addition to its riding school provision, Holts Equestrian Centre operates as a therapeutic centre, specialising in supporting individuals with autism, anxiety, eating disorders and other SEND needs. The team recognises the unique role horses can play in supporting emotional wellbeing, confidence and personal development, and delivers this work within a calm, structured and supportive environment.

Overall, Holt’s Equestrian Centre provides a welcoming and professional setting for riders of all ages and backgrounds. Whether clients are seeking high-quality riding instruction, meaningful therapeutic engagement, or simply time spent learning alongside well-cared-for horses, the centre is guided by a clear commitment to welfare, education and positive horse–human relationships.
