This is an exciting time to become involved with The Association of British Riding Schools+ (ABRS+), a registered charity at the heart of riding and equestrianism across the UK.

ABRS+ is the professional association for Riding Schools, Livery Yards and Equestrian Centre Owners. We represent our Members’ interests within the industry and, where appropriate, at Government level.

We are committed to:

• Raising standards of equine welfare
• Supporting safe and professional riding establishments
• Enhancing Members’ client experience
• Strengthening workforce capability and professional development

We deliver this through our inspection and licensing framework, education and development programmes, webinars, workshops, and Member resources.

As we continue to evolve and expand our footprint across the UK, we are focused on ensuring our Membership services remain relevant, high quality, and closely aligned with Members’ needs.

A New Members Board Sub-Committee

To strengthen Member engagement and further enhance the quality and relevance of our services, the Board of Trustees is establishing a new Members Board Sub-Committee.

The Committee will be chaired by Trustee George Baber, Director of Licensing and Centre Operations, and supported by Trustee and Equestrian Veterinary Inspector Ben Mayes, alongside the ABRS+ Equine Welfare Officer.

The Sub-Committee will:

• Develop new and relevant Member services
• Review and maximise the value of existing Membership benefits
• Strengthen communication and engagement with Members
• Support the promotion and growth of ABRS+ across the UK
• Provide informed feedback to the Board of Trustees on Member priorities

This is an opportunity for Members to play a meaningful role in shaping the future direction and strategic development of ABRS+.

Who We Are Looking For

We welcome applications from ABRS+ Members who:

• Are committed to high standards of equine welfare and professionalism
• Have insight into the operational realities of riding establishments
• Are interested in contributing to strategic discussion and development
• Can offer experience in areas such as governance, business development, compliance, education, communications or Member engagement

We are keen to ensure broad representation across regions and types of riding establishments.

Time Commitment

• Virtual meetings approximately 4–6 times per year
• A minimum of one in-person meeting annually at a central UK location
• Additional project work undertaken remotely as required

This is a voluntary role. Reasonable expenses will be reimbursed in line with ABRS+ policy.
