Rates Update Following Autumn Budget Announcement

Posted on 1st November 2021

Many of our members have been considering if they are eligible for the rates cuts announced in the Autumn Budget Announcement on the basis of their centres being included within the ‘leisure’ sector.

What we know so far:

It could be assumed that those who were eligible for rate relief in 2021/22 may be eligible for an exemption for the coming year too. We are currently pushing for clarification on this and requesting for it to be included, but it’s possible that an outcome will not be known until the 2022/23 Rates Statements are issued at the beginning of next year.

The important point here firstly re business rates is to establish whether riding establishments and livery yards are included in the group of organisations receiving rate relief as announced last week. Our local MP here has already written and we will be following that up this week. Then we can make sure the Local Authorities are aware if eligibility is forthcoming.

Updates will be published to this post accordingly.
