British Equestrian Riding Establishments Survey 2023: one year on

Last year, British Equestrian launched a survey designed to give our industry a ‘health check’ which many of you took part in.  Overall, it showed there’s a ‘supply and demand’ issue. On average, centres were running at 75% capacity due to issues around workforce, both paid and volunteer, suitable and affordable horsepower and skyrocketing costs. Additionally, licensing requirements and the associated costs, time and inconsistency were very apparent. Twelve months on, we’re running the survey again to further understand the challenges faced, build on the insights learned and discover trends.

Working with British Equestrian’s member bodies – The British Horse Society, the Association of British Riding Schools, the Riding for the Disabled Association, The Pony Club, horsescotland, the aim is to follow up and find out what a difference a year has made where Covid-recovery has been surpassed by the cost of living crisis and rising expenses.

Following from last year, collectively, we’ve implemented a number of measures to help support you, your business and the industry as a whole  ( www.britishequestrian.org.uk/news/one-year-on-the-next-step-to-a-viable-future-for-britain-s-riding-establishments ) but we know there’s more we can do.

Your views are incredibly important to us and the answers you give really matter, so please be as honest as possible. Plus, there’s a chance to win a great prize for your centre for taking part.
